Description

My grandson, Erix, wants to be Will Turner from "Pirates of the Caribbean". He calls him, "The guy who makes the swords." This is a combination of a digital photo I took of him with additional photos of a ship's wheel, the sunset, and a ship (which I painted to appear to be burning). Just for the moment, in this photo/painting he IS Will Turner...

Good work.Nice composition. I think could be better without the black contour that you have put in your pirate grandson. :) +8

i dont like that black corner on the left, you should put a compass there or something;)

Nice concept. Images of ship, wheel, and sun set are fitting of a theme for pirates, but your grandson turned into pirate coud be better implemented into overall theme. It isn't that he doesn't look like a pirate should, rather the clothing seems too clean for a pirate. Some dust and/or dirt added to his clothing may help to bring him into the theme for this piece.

Thanks for all of your nice and constructive criticisms. It's feedback that really helps us all grow as artists sometimes. Mysteryhunt, Drew Struzan is one of my favorite artists so I take your comment as a BIG compliment! deManuel, I felt like I wanted to seperate Erix from the backgound and the black outline around his figure is a trick that Struzan uses. Steal from the best, aye? Cigaro, I'm taking a fresh look at that left corner...hmm... loneorbit, Erix is not exactly a pirate. He's Will Turner, dressed as he was when he rescued Captain Jack Sparrow from the gallows, so he's relatively clean (ha ha). ;)

I really like it, at first sight looks like a digital illustration. Welcome GFX.
